Kurt Semandel

Kurt has been involved in hockey for over 30 years and grew up in Milwaukee. He played in the Shaw
organization and attended St Mary’s Springs High School where they won 2 state championships and
was inducted in the St. Mary’s Athletic Hall of Fame.

Kurt continued his dreams and played 4 years for the Wisconsin Badgers where he played over 150
games and was on the All-WCHA Academic team two years and awarded the Ivan B. Williamson Award
his senior year. He continued his playing career in Europe- Sweden and played 8 years in the IHL and
ECHL- Mariestad Sweden- Kansas City Blades, Toledo Storm, Columbus Chill- Nashville Knights, Madison
Monsters and Milwaukee Admirals.

Kurt’s dad, Skip Semandel was inducted in the Wisconsin Hockey Hall of fame in 2001 as a coach and
owner of the Hockey Locker. Kurt followed his dad in coaching in which he coached at many levels.
Waunakee Youth, Madison Capitals, Waunakee High School, Madison East, Team Wisconsin U14/U16
and USA Central Districts teams. He had the honor to coach many college and professional players -ex
NHL players- Brad Winchester and Eric Jensen to name a few.

Kurt has three sons (Luc, Alec and Jac). Luc played college lacrosse at Minnesota Duluth, while Alec
played college hockey at Lake Superior/New Hampshire and professionally in Slovakia. Jac also played
college hockey at Eau Claire and Trine University.

Kurt resides in Oconomowoc with his wife Jodi where he is partners in a successful hockey school in Madison
and is Co Director of Waukesha Youth hockey.
